Finally Suse runs on my computer, after I decided to format the service partition on my X31 (which means I don't have the recovery data for windows anymore!)
The reason why I installed this is merely because it looks pretty good on Bart's Vaio, and he keeps saying how good it is. So, after installing and abandoning redhat 5 years ago (due to laziness, as usual..), here I am using linux again. The font size still does't look good and chinese fonts are ugly, esp. on mozilla. Actually, the screen resolution is not well configured, I think. Hopefully this will all be resolved after I install some big5 fonts and erase the screen paramremeters for x and y sizes.
So, what's the next steps? 1. to get wireless to work; 2. figure out what latex files to download and get kile; 3. make my laptop looks cooler, e.g. get the weather forecast stuff; 4. figure out basic commands.
Hope this time I can stick to it!

Steps 1 and 2 done. It's cool that I can access files under windows, so I no longer have to install miktex but can use kile to edit my .tex files.
Chinese fonts look pretty much okay now, but still no chinese typing. The only fonts problem is with LA Times page: very crowded.
Need to ask Bart where to find the weather program, and how to deal with the error message while attempting to configure X31.
